On 12th January 2017, National Youth Day was observed. This is an annual event to mark birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda. This year it was 154th birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Among National Current Affairs, On 12th January 2017, Second of the Scorpene class submarine INS Khanderi was launched at Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL) in Mumbai. Union Minister of State (MoS) for Defence Subhash Bhamre launched it and it was named after fort of Maratha forces that played a vital role in ensuring their supremacy at sea in the late 17th century.
Now this will go under various trails before being inducted into Indian Navy.
From 6th March to 8th March 2017, First Gender Literature Festival (GLF) of World will be held in Patna ( Bihar ) and this function will be organised by NIFT, Patna.
This function will have many attendies viz. Social workers, Bureaucrats, Authors, Activists, Students etc. This initiative aims at creating a platform to exchange ideas and to share and learn experiences of renowned people in the field of gender literature.
First Student Startup and Innovation Policy of India was introduced by Gujarat Government in the first week of January 2017. This was announced by Chief Minister Vijaybhai Rupani. In coming next 5 years Rs. 200 crore will be provided to the students as State Innovation Fund.
This initiative was taken under the guidance of Education Department and it will promote innovation and pre-incubation awareness amongst students of higher education.
Among International Current Affairs, On 11th January 2017, Norway became first country in world to ban FM radio broadcasting.
Main reason to ban FM radio broadcasting is government's endeavour to offer a better radio service to the whole population.
